Your Information

If you use our site, you will transmit information to and from our servers and store information on our servers. Depending on which services you use, this information may include information about yourself, your organization, your employees / contacts / clients / volunteers / and friends. This introduces the following questions:

1. Do we collect or store any information that you do not explicitly and knowingly provide to us?

2. Is the information you transmit to us safe during transmission (between your computer and our servers) and is it all treated the same way?

3. Is the information that is stored on our servers safe and secure and is it all treated the same way?

4. How can you help keep the information secure and/or make it more secure?

5. Who has access to your information and what information do we share?

6. Outside of storing your information, servicing your requests for your information, and servicing the requests of others for the information you explicitly make available to them, to whom else will we make your information available?

7. Do we place cookies on hard drives and if so, why?

8. Do we use our information to market additional or other services?

9. What is our policy regarding children?

These questions are addressed below. However, if you would like us to address anything else relevant to how we handle your information or if you feel we could make anything clearer, please feel welcome to e-mail your request or suggestion.

1. Do we collect or store any information that you do not explicitly and knowingly provide to us?

Those who Log In to the site provide the following information:

  • Your IP address: This is your unique Internet address. We collect it each time you log in to RJC and use it only during your session. We do not store this information on our server.
  • Your browser and browser version: We collect this information each time you log in to Restorative Justice Community (RJC) and use it only during your session. We use this information to determine if we are compatible with your browser and to discern the best way to deliver information to your browser.

No other information, personal or statistical, is collected or stored concerning those who log in or web site visitors.

2. Is the information you transmit to us safe during transmission (between your computer and our servers) and is it all treated the same way?

  • We treat your user name, password, and credit card information differently. This information is encrypted for transmission with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol — the standard for transmission of confidential financial information.
  • Please understand that no one can guarantee that data transmitted over the Internet can be 100% secure. Thus, your use of this site is at your own risk.

3. Is the information that is stored on our servers safe and secure and is it all treated the same way?

  • We treat your credit card information, user name, and password differently. This information is encrypted when stored on our servers.
  • We follow industry-standard procedures to protect your information. All information is processed by redundant servers, stored on redundant disk drives, and backed up daily. This process minimizes the risk of data becoming lost or corrupted. We do not share this information with third parties unless instructed by you to do so.

4. How can you help keep your information secure?

  • The most important thing you can do is to keep your user name and password confidential.
  • Please remember to log out of your organization's account and close the browser window when finished.
  • We will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or e-mail.

5. Who has access to your information and what information do we share?

We collect personal information from you on your behalf, according to the services you use and to manage your account. You own the information we collect on your behalf and, unless otherwise directed by you, we do not share it with anyone. Parties with access to this information are:

  • You
  • Your organization’s administrators and members have access to whatever information you explicitly share with your organization.
  • Members of our staff might be required to access your organization's information at the request of you or your organization in order to provide service and support.
  • Other organizations - at your explicit request, we will provide some information about you to another organization. For example, credit card information might be provided to the financial institution to complete a payment transaction. In addition, at the explicit request of your organization or if performing a transaction with one of our partners, we will provide information about you and others to another organization. An example of this scenario would be to publish a directory or a newsletter or subscribe to a service from a partner.
  • The public has access to whatever information you or your organization explicitly make available to the public.

6. Outside of storing your information, servicing your requests for information, and servicing the requests of others for the information you explicitly make available to them, who else will we make your information available to?

  • We will never provide your information to any third party without the explicit permission of you or your organization. This includes the sale, lease, rental, or trading of information.
  • However, we may access and/or disclose information if we are required to do so by law, if in good faith we believe that the law requires us to do so, if it protects our legal rights, or in connection with an investigation.

7. Do we place cookies on hard drives and if so, why?

We use a type of cookie called a session cookie, which is not written to your hard drive. The session cookie is created in your browser to help us manage your session on RJC. The session cookie terminates when your session terminates. We do not store information on your hard drive.

8. Do we use your information to market additional or other services?

We may periodically e-mail you information that we feel will be important to you. These e-mails are generally limited to those individuals identified as site administrators for your organization.

9. What is our policy regarding children?

  • You must be more than 18 years old to share personal information. Children younger than 13 should not be provided with user names or passwords.
  • We provide a directory service for organizations that will allow parents to submit information regarding their children to the organization. This information can be made private to the organization.
